Movement to feed Prince picking up steam

DETROIT, MI — The NBA is rallying around Detroit Pistons small forward Tayshaun Prince, and is hoping fans across the country will do the same.

For years, Prince has been dealing with an off-court issue that has plagued him since his days at the University of Kentucky. Prince is one of 852 million people across the world suffering from severe hunger; and it’s been something he has tried to hide from even those closest to him.

He has always appeared to be on the lighter side, but most analysts and friends assumed he would put on weight as his NBA career progressed. Unfortunately the weight gain never happened, and now his Pistons teammates know why.

“We love Tayshaun like a brother, and we’re ready to do what it takes to make sure he never goes hungry again,” teammate Antonio McDyess said. “We’re asking fans to make donations of food or money to the newly-created Prince’s Pantry Foundation. Just take a look at the guy – if you don’t realize how bad shape he’s in and want to help, I think you should take a look at yourself. There is a man’s life at stake here.”

The NBA is also pitching in, starting with a promotion that will take place at every arena for the remainder of the playoffs: any fan who brings at least one non-perishable food item will receive a free “Open Wide Tayshaun” t-shirt, courtesy of the league and NBA Cares.

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
