Harrington a happy backup

ATLANTA, GA — After years of struggling in Detroit and a rollercoaster season in Miami, new Atlanta Falcons backup quarterback Joey Harrington finally feels like he’s where he belongs.

Instead of having the responsibility of a franchise on his shoulders, Harrington can now relax and attempt to learn from one of the greatest franchise quarterbacks in the NFL. Falcons QB Michael Vick is known to be one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the league; a quality Harrington has lacked since he was drafted. When introduced to the media last week, the former Oregon Duck expressed his joy to be a Falcon.

“I really think I can learn a lot from Michael,” the 2002 third overall pick said. “It’s amazing how similar our games are: we know how to blame our receivers for our mistakes, we tend to outlast head coaches, and we’ve each set a franchise back considerably. I can’t wait to hone my craft around a true genius like Vick.”

Team sources told SSNN that Vick and Harrington are becoming fast friends and are currently working out together. The two have spent hours at the gym rehearsing how to throw their hands up in the air, and which kind of exasperated facial expression to use to convince fans that a dropped pas was the receiver’s fault.

Harrington says he has learned a lot just from spending a couple days with Vick, and knows that with enough hard work he can learn how to show just enough promise to make a team believe in him.
