Gordon wins at Talladega, whines about media

TALLADEGA, AL — Hours after Jeff Gordon’s victory at Talladega, he lashed out at the media for their coverage of the event. Gordon said that he felt he was not receiving enough credit for his win, and that the media was focusing on the wrong parts of the story. “I really wonder if people realize that ‘Talladega Nights’ was a fictional movie. It’s not a documentary; it’s not even historical fiction,” he said. “I’ve had literally hundreds of people ask me if I know Ricky Bobby – it’s ludicrous. Jeff and Gordon are two first names – why the hell can’t they make a movie about me?” Gordon added that he was frustrated with the amount of questions he took about fellow driver Tony Stewart and his rant earlier this week, wherein he compared NASCAR to professional wrestling. “I’ll tell you what I tell everyone who asks the question,” Gordon snapped. “The driving is real. Is some of it scripted? Sure, this is sports entertainment. But there are real guys driving real cars out there, so don’t try to discount what we’re doing.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
