Chandler to enter draft

CHICAGO, IL — DePaul sophomore Wilson Chandler announced last week that he will declare himself eligible for the 2007 NBA Draft.

The 6-8 forward led the Blue Demons in points, rebounds and blocks last year, and was named to the All-Big East Second Team. His announcement has created quite a buzz among many in the NBA, and is sure to drastically change teams’ draft boards.

“Chandler? No, there’s no way I’m coaching Chandler again,” said Chicago Bulls head coach Scott Skiles. “Oh, you mean the DePaul kid. Yeah, he’ll go in the fourth or fifth round.”

Skiles was not the only coach to rave about Chandler – “Wilson Chandler is a legend,” said Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson. “His book ‘Zen and the Art of Happiness’ changed the way I look at the world, and really helped form some of my most fundamental coaching philosophies. Wait, are we talking about the same guy?”

Not all the feedback has been positive, unfortunately. New York Knicks coach and general manager Isiah Thomas said Chandler is “making a huge mistake. What is he doing messing with the draft?” Thomas asked. “Doesn’t he know that I’m signing kids straight out of college now?”

Draft expert Chad Ford, after staying awake for 24 straight hours trying to get a gauge on Chandler’s position, told SSNN he has “no doubt Chandler will be a top five pick. For the NBDL, that is – he’s at least a year or two away from being NBA ready.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
