CHICAGO, IL — Mark Buehrle held a press conference on Thursday to further discuss his Wednesday night no-hitter against the Texas Rangers. It was the 16th no-hitter in White Sox history, and the first in the majors since Florida’s Anibal Sanchez no-hit Arizona on September 6 of 2006. “Looking back, it was actually kind of easy,” the 28-year-old left hander said. “It’s kind of shocking it took me this long to throw one. Watch out, I might just go Johnny Vander Meer and throw another one my next time out.” Buehrle faced the minimum 27 batters and only allowed one baserunner – former Chicago Cub slugger Sammy Sosa [Ed. Note: Just to be clear, the modifier 'former' refers to both 'Chicago Cub' and 'slugger'.] on a walk in the fifth inning – and then immediately picked him off of first base. “More than anything, I’m just glad we won,” Buehrle said. “Aw, who am I kidding – more than anything, I’m glad I did this in a contract year. I’m gonna be the next Barry Zito, bitches.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
