Another controversial endorsement for Ditka

CHICAGO, IL — Just over three years ago, Mike Ditka made headlines across the country when he agreed to become the spokesman for Levitra – a pharmaceutical solution for erectile dysfunction.

Although NASCAR driver Mark Martin and steroid-user Rafael Palemeiro were already spokesmen for Viagra, the very idea of Da’ Coach representing this type of product was unthinkable to many. But Ditka broke the mold again when he was introduced Wednesday morning as the new spokesman for Depend – a popular brand of adult diapers.

“I’ve had accidents here and there over the years, and I’m just here to say it’s nothing to be ashamed of,” the former Chicago Bears head coach said. “I started wearing Depends about three months ago, and it’s been outstanding. I can go out on stage at ESPN and just drop a deuce right next to Ron Jaworski – I don’t even skip a beat. I’m not running to the bathroom anymore; and I’m not running away from this issue.”

The ad campaign featuring Ditka will debut sometime in June and will include radio, newspaper and television spots. Commercials will feature the tagline: “When Da’ Coach needs extra protection, Depends always pick up the blitz.”
