NEW YORK, NY — Less than two weeks after receiving an extension as president and head coach for the Knicks, Isiah Thomas will have a day named for him by the City of New York for his accomplishments in the front office.

“His ability to take a team with a $140 million payroll and turn them into a contender for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs is unbelievable,” team owner James Dolan told a crowd at the dedication ceremony. “You add in the job he did running the CBA [into the ground] and I can’t think of a more deserving guy. As such, March 21 will forever be known as Isiah Thomas Day in New York.”

The team is also lobbying the city for Eddy Curry Day. “Gotta beat Chicago to the punch,” Dolan said.

Not everyone is happy for Thomas. Charlotte Bobcats Manager of Basketball Operations Michael Jordan – who feuded with Thomas throughout their NBA careers – expressed dismay at the decision.

“I would like to think that when people think of that level of achievement in management by an ex-player, I’m the first person that comes to mind,” Jordan said. “I guess I’ll just have to try harder. Could someone get the ball to Morrison?”
