Cassell lands movie role

LOS ANGELES — Once he started playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, Sam Cassell realized there were opportunities awaiting him outside of basketball. Los Angeles is the home of the stars, where multi-million dollar movies are made every day. For the past two years, Cassell has been trying to get into the movie industry, and it seems he has finally caught his first big break as an actor. “We have green-lighted production on the fifth installment in the Alien series, and are proud to have Sam Cassell signed on to play the alien. We chose Sam because he really has the look we’ve been searching for,” Fox spokesman Stephen Cohen announced. “Casting him in this role should save us thousands in makeup costs.” Teammates say Cassell has been noticeably upbeat since landing the part, and seems to be practicing extra-terrestrial facial expressions during Clippers practice and games. “I have to admit the whole acting thing comes pretty easy to me,” Cassell told reporters. “I really think I was born to play this role. Everyone I talk to tells me I’ll make a very believable alien.” The film’s working title is Alien from Earth, and producers expect to release it in the fall of 2009.

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
