Realistically, Wood probably out for season
MESA, AZ — The Cubs announced today that Kerry Wood may miss the year after being injured when he slipped getting out of his hot tub. Early reports projected that Wood would only miss a few days, but then doctors remembered who they were dealing with. “A normal guy slips getting out of his hot tub, and he’s back at work the next day,” said Dr. James Andrews, who was called in for a special examination. “But this is Kerry Wood - let’s be serious, he’s gonna be out a while.” The Cubs have scheduled a similar press conference next week to announce that Mark Prior’s as-yet-unspecified injury will be treated with a strict regimen of towel-tossing, and that he will probably be starting by the end of April (though that date may be nothing more than a mirage).
