Hunter to come out

PHILADELPHIA, PA — After meeting little criticism for his implicitly offensive comments regarding former NBA player John Amaechi (who recently announced he is gay), league and team sources report that 76ers center Steven Hunter will officially come out of the closet as a homophobe. “Steven’s been suffering silently for a long time,” said one teammate. “Some of the guys in the locker room know how he feels about homosexuals - confused, repulsed… you know, just generally uncomfortable - but he’s always felt as though he needed to keep that part of himself a secret from the general public.” Hunter was not ready to comment on the issue as of press time, but told SSNN that he is preparing for a soul-bearing press conference in the near future.
