Cowher wants to spend more time fighting with wife, daughters

PITTSBURGH, PA — Bill Cowher, who has coached the Pittsburgh Steelers for 15 very successful seasons, resigned earlier this week in order to spend more time fighting with his family.

“I feel like I haven’t been around,” Cowher said. “For six months of the year, I’m not there. I can’t argue with my wife every day. My daughter never gets mad at me for no reason. I feel like I’m missing my life.”

Cowher is known to take the job of coaching extremely seriously, spending nearly all of his waking hours focusing on football almost all year round. As a result, there has been a toll taken on his family.

“It’s going to be nice to have my dad around, so I can tell him that I hate him also,” said Cowher’s daughter, who is in high school. Cowher has two other children in college, who are expected to argue more with their father now, likely on the phone – except, of course, during holidays.

Cowher’s wife is also excited for the new era of their relationship to begin.

“Fighting with your family from far away, I mean, it’s no way to live,” she said. “We’ve done it for a long time, and it’s be okay, but I’m looking forward to being together, and fighting in person. It will be nice.”
