Art Shell forms presidential exploratory committee

OAKLAND, CA — Reporters flocked to Oakland Monday, upon hearing an announcement that Art Shell had made his decision.

It turns out, they may need to wait a few more days.

Shell announced Monday that he’s forming an exploratory committee to consider a run for the White House in 2008, and will make his formal announcement on Feb. 10 in Sacramento.

Shell, who announced his candidacy via his website, feels that “America is ready for a change, and I think I may have the experience and point-of-view that we need. I’m not sure, though, which is why it’ll take me a few weeks to decide.”

Shell has not really held political office, aside from two terms as Head Coach of the Oakland Raiders, but it is believed that his inexperience could actually be perceived as a new sort of experience.

“We don’t want the normal Washington establishment anymore,” said Melissa Rodriguez, 33, of Oakland. “We need a change. That’s why I’m supporting Arthur Shell, the first black President of the United States.”
