Fred Taylor “finally going to sit down and write” this offseason

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Jacksonville tailback Fred Taylor has cleared his schedule for the months of March and April, and is planning on adding a new title to his already lengthy list of accolades and accomplishments: author.

That’s right, the speedy 30-year-old back has plans to pen a romance novel this offseason.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do forever,” Taylor recently told C-SPAN2’s BookTv program. “This is me. This is who I am. The fleet-footed bruiser that comes out on Sunday, he’s just a small part of the real FT.”

It’s unclear whether Taylor has any experience writing, but he believes that his life experiences will play well in print. The story, loosely based on Taylor’s own experience, follows a Pro Bowl running back as he falls in love with a local woman, and is torn by his desires to lead a normal life and become a football star.

The book, slated for a million copies, is being published by Simon & Schuster.

“Who knows,” Taylor said, “Maybe it’ll even be made into a movie someday.”

The tagline for the novel is as follows: “Ned Traylor loved football. Ned Traylor loved his family. And then it came time to choose.”
