Dontrelle Willis traded to Bengals
MIAMI, FL — Superstar pitcher-turned quarterback Dontrelle Willis has been traded to the Cincinnati Bengals, and will start for the AFC Central squad this Sunday, pending completion of a physical and release from jail.
Willis was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of drunken driving when he pulled over his Bentley and urinated on a South Beach street, in front of a cop.
“When I heard about this, I thought, ‘Wow, what an opportunity,’” said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, who at the time was searching for a potential replacement for injured quarterback Carson Palmer. “How often do you have a chance to pick up a superstar athlete who will fit in perfectly with the culture of your team?”
Willis will play at least this weekend for the Bengals, before returning to Florida for a court date early next week, and then spring training.
